I'm worried about my weight and want to become vegitarian?

I'm worried about my weight...I was thinking of becoming vegitarian because it is a healthier lifestyle. I would like for some answers to come from vegitarians. Also i was at a restraunt the other day and i started eating some meat and for a minute i felt gross.


Answers:
Being a vegetarian will not necessarily make you lose weight. Lots of vegetarian foods are fattening too, like chips, crisps, cheese, nuts, avocado, etc. However, if you are feeling repulsed by meat you may want to think about ehy that is. Is it the moral sense of eating a previously living being which is repelling you?

Well, being a vegitarian should not be so bad, but i really think u need eat all the calegories of the food chart. Meat are actually good for u, if u eat it at the right amount. If u balance ur food "web", and excersise a lot, u will loose weight.

Look into reducing your carb intake and being smart about dieting. Being a strict vegetarian does not necessarily mean it is a healthier lifestyle. You would do better to eat a reduced calorie diet and limit the amount and types of meat (proteins) you eat. I know quite a few overweight vegetarians, because they load up on breads and pasta and don't eat enough of the Meat-free" proteins. If you want to go vegetarian because you just do not want to eat meat, then discuss it with your doctor so you make a smart and healthy choice.

Vegetarian diets don't mean you are going to lose weight. It's not a healthier life style.

Eating healthy meats and vegetables is a healthy lifestyle.

Don't be another Vegetarian/Vegan PETA loving liberal swine.

The vegetarian lifestyle can be very healthy if you make the right choices. I suggest you read You Don't Need Meat by Peter Cox. It explains a lot, and even though it maybe hard to get through it's very very helpful!

Becoming a vegaterian is very heathly. A lot of meat these days is REALLY bad for you. Its not all that hard to find recipies for vegaterian meals.

Go ahead, be a vegetarian! It was the best decision I ever made. I also lost about 15lbs. when I did. I feel healthier, look better and feel better about myself. Good luck!

If you do become veggie and dont see much progress dont be disappointed but if you want better and faster results I recomend vegan.

be strict vegetarian ,avoid junk food special all cheese and potato products eat home made food if possible eat boiled food for two weeks and let me know all the best

Red meat is particularly heavy... high in saturated fat and calories. Chicken and fish really aren't bad for you. I think you might have some success losing weight if you only gave up red meat. Or use that as a transition step... and slowly give up chicken... and then fish... maybe dairy.

The protein content of chicken and fish make them excellent diet foods because they will make you feel fuller longer. When I became vegetarian, I didn't eat enough protein and felt hungry all the time. As a result, I ate way too much! Now I'm better about getting my protein requirements and I maintain my weight with little effort. My point is that a "healthier" lifestyle is more about balance... no matter if you choose to eat meat or not.
