What's the best way to de-scale a kettle?!

Question:

What's the best way to de-scale a kettle?

Answers:
Buy a patented kettle descaler. Any cleaning section in any supermarket will have several and not cost very much. The comes the hard bit, following the instructions, but I'm sure you will get by

Edit:- I'm going right now to try the lemon idea suggested above. Going to pick the last lemon on my tree and will report back again in 5 minutes.

Edit: Boiled it, forgot I have to wait for it to cool. Will let you know the results later. I really hope this works, I hate those chemicals, so don't do anything till I get back to you, LOL. Kettle cooling now.

Edit 2. Sorry lemon did not work. I wish it had. But the limescale is very bad in my area, much worst then when I lived in the UK, in Bristol and that's a real hard water area. Don't know why some guy gave me a thumbs down. really put my effort into this and really wanted the lemon to work.

Edit 3. Going to try the distilled vinegar now. Why am I trying to do all this stuff when I know I can buy a bottle of something that will get rid of it. Because I try to not dump chemicals down my sink and toilet. Would love another solution. I got one thing to say to the thumbs downers, and that is UP YOURS

I live in Spain where there is more limescale in the water then there is water, so I have lots of experience.

Chop up a lemon and boil in the kettle and leave to cool and you will find that it is clean of lime scale. Tried it yesterday and it's brilliant and cost effective. Also no chemicals to flush down the sink.
Oh forgot the water, add a cup or two of water before boiling.

bicarbonate of soda and vinegar i think works

Buy some kettle descaler then follow the instructions on the packet. Can't be beat.

Just buy a new one

Half fill the kettle with 1 part water 1 part white vinegar. Bring to the boil, allow to cool down and empty. If the kettle has heavy limescale you may need to do it twice. Then fill the kettle with water, boil and then throw away to remove any deposits.

Fill it with distilled white vinegar and let it sit for about 30 minutes, then clean with a scouring or steel wool pad. This is how we clean the pot to our distiller.

Lime Away will probably work also. Just make sure you clean it thoroughly with hot water, to make sure all of the Lime Away is rinsed off.

distilled vinegar, just enough to cover the element then boil the kettle approx twice then empty out then rinse out with cold water two or three times

Get your maid to do it for you....sorted

Get a descaler tablet and put it in the kettle with water and lave it over night
