How long will homemade pasta sauce stay fresh in the refrigerator?!

Question:

How long will homemade pasta sauce stay fresh in the refrigerator?

It has been in tupperware for a week and I'm not sure if its safe to eat. I know jarred sauce will last awhile but is it the same?

Answers:
If it was boiled and has a large amount of tomato product and in devoid of meat I would just reheat it, cool it off and freeze it, I was a chef for 20 years, and if you knew what the restaurants do as far thing like that, some places that do not sell spaghetti as a main item can either freeze of keep thing for more than one week.

If you have not put a spoon in it or tasted it, that can cause contamination. bring it to the boil, cool it, put it in a Ziplok bag and freeze it, then the next time you make some just add it, my grandmother used to save all her gravys and tomato sauces, and make a big pot every month, next to turkey KFC and BBQ that was all we got out of her.

7 days? I'd toss it. That's a little too long.

THROW IT AWAY!!!

I would toss it to be safe. Typically, any leftovers that you don't freeze and haven't eaten within 5 days should be thrown away. I realize that your sauce may not have contained any meat products, but it still isn't worth getting an upset stomach over.
