What can I do to like vegetables better?
Hi, I am a growing girl and I dont like vegetables. I know I need to eat them more often but they just taste horrible. I will only eat lettuce, corn on the cob, and fresh carrots. Also celery. Can I try adding butter? What can I do? I want to be healthy. Please help and thank you.

well, try sauteing in butter with some salt and pepper. or buy the frozen bag kind. better than canned. broccoli and cauliflower with melted cheese is good too.

When I was young I hated the taste of onions and tomatoes. I loved pickles, though. As I got older, my taste buds matured (yes, they do that - probably why you don't have a liking to them yet) and now I love most veggies. It seems from your choices that you like sweet veggies. Why don't you try adding some healthy sweet options to your veggies? Like a spinach and crasin or manadrin orange salad? Alternatively, onions that have cooked, are less sharp and their sweetness comes out more. Maybe you could try that. Finally, you could lightly oil and salt the veggies and roast them in the broiler - its easy and also brings out the sweetness. Good luck.
A great way to eat more vegetables is to either make a really good salad (which you said you eat lettuce, so I assume you can make a decent salad), or to roast them.
Roasting veggies is so easy and they are always delicious. Just take your favorite vegetables (pretty much anything works, onion, mushroom, zucchini, potatoes, asparagus, green beans, etc.), and cut them into same-sized pieces so they cook evenly. Lay them out in a single layer on a cooking sheet, and drizzle with olive oil. Toss the veggies in the olive oil so that they are all lightly covered. Salt and pepper generously. Put into a 350 degree oven for about twenty minutes. You'll know when the veggies are done when they are soft and starting to caramelize (cooking time may vary a few minutes depending on the vegetables, potatoes, for example, may take a lot longer).

I am so glad that you want to like more vegetables. Remember that vegetables are a huge category of food and you're not going to like them all. For instance, if I never eat an eggplant or a beet again, I'll be ok with that. But try experimenting with different vegetables prepared different ways. Search the Internet for "asparagus recipes" for example, and then go to the store with your mom, get all of the ingedients & then make it with her. It will be a great mother/daughter bonding exercise, too.
Make it a goal for yourselft to try a new veggie or new veggie recipe at least once a week.
tiff's right. roasting is a great way to make vegetables taste better. olive oil, salt and pepper are the ticket to making bland veggies taste great. my favorites are califlower and zuccini.
you might want to try grilling your vegetable. Grilling makes everything taste better.
Have you tried eating stir-fry veggies? My kids don't particularly like vegetables alone either but when I stir fry veggies (carrots, cabbage, broccoli & green onions) and a little bit (1/4 cup) of chicken broth in a wok (or skillet) with extra virgin olive oil, diced fresh garlic and soy sauce. They chow it down! Go figure!? It tastes even better served over steamed white rice.
When making the stir-fry, make sure the wok is really hot and don't overcook the veggies...you want them on the crunchy side. Throw in the carrots, cabbage & chopped onion in after you put the oil, garlic, and 1/2 of the chicken broth in the wok first. Stir them around. After about 45 secs, throw in the broccoli. Stir the veggies constantly. Take them off the heat after about 90 seconds or so. If it seems likes its too hard to make ask mom or dad! : ) Hope U like it.
Get into cooking. Seriously. There were many vegetables I did not like until I became interested in cooking. Once you start following recipes and using fresh ingredients you begin to appreciate them a lot more. You can go from hating asparagus to loving the way it comes out when you grill it on your own. You'll also probably realize that many of the vegetables you have had before have been poorly prepared. Cooking it yourself the proper way will let you know what it is really supposed to taste like.
