Lobsters and shrimp? are they classified as insects of the sea.?!

Question:

Lobsters and shrimp? are they classified as insects of the sea.?

My friends always eat shrimp or Lobsters they have no qualms about this, but the more I look at them they really remind me of a large insect. We are about to go to the Nova Scotia where they are renowed for their seafood, however I cannot eat them. Are they insects? Lobsters remind me of a huge bug on a plate.

Answers:
I really don't care for them either. They do look pretty nasty don't they?

Here's a fact for you: Lobsters and cockroaches are closely related. They're both arthropods or something like that.

They are reminiscent of insects because they have an exoskeleton, but they are not related to them. Crustaceans are their own family.

Of course they're not insects. They are crustaceans.

Think Cockroaches..This is why they are not Kosher, no Crustacean is. Nothing with out scales is clean to eat. Then we have the whole business of China imported shrimp being grown in sewage.
Here inTX I buy Gulf Coast wild Shrimp...
I luv them but have decide to give them up for my health.

The lobster wears its skeleton on the outside (an exoskeleton), like a suit of armor. Because of this crusty covering, the lobster is included in the category of crustacean, along with crabs, shrimp, and barnacles. Crustaceans belong to a larger group known as Arthropods, which includes spiders, insects, and horseshoe crabs.

No, technically not, shimp and lobsters cannot be considered insects whci is ". Any of numerous usually small arthropod animals of the class Insecta, having an adult stage characterized by three pairs of legs and a body segmented into head, thorax, and abdomen and usually having two pairs of wings. Insects include the flies, crickets, mosquitoes, beetles, butterflies, and bees.". A lobster and shrimp have no thorax and thus, cannot be be concluded as an insect. Much less, an insect of the sea. Furthermore, there are some fresh water lobsters and thus, you cannot assume that they all come from the sea. Lobsters and shrimp are both crustaceans and are NOT INSECTS. Hope this helps.

Lobsters and shrimp share the fillum Arthropod, with spiders. Here's more information:
