Does anyone have EASY instructions on how to use pastillage (modelling paste)???

I am trying to make letters for my daughters birthday cake using pastillage... I have bought a lettering mould.... I made a batch according to the instructions (1cup + 4 teaspoons of water) and it has been in the mould for 24 hours and still hasn't set. I can't get them out.. Please help!!
