Answers:
No, butter and margarine are not the same. In this recipe, using margarine would be okay. Sometimes, there are some recipes that need to have butter in them. But, yes, margarine would be okay.

yes u can use that, thank you u just reminded me i have to bake some too lol

You can use margarine or butter.. depends on your recipe.. my own personal recipe is as follows:

2 cups granulated sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) margarine or butter
1/2 cup low-fat milk
1/3 cup NESTLé? TOLL HOUSE? Baking Cocoa
3 cups Quaker? Oats (quick or old fashioned*, uncooked)

1. In large saucepan, combine sugar, margarine, milk and cocoa. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Continue boiling 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
2. Remove from heat. Stir in oats.* Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until firm. Store tightly covered.

Makes about 3 dozen.

*If using old fashioned oats, cool mixture in saucepan 5 minutes.

yes you can

No Bake Chocolate Cookies
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/4 to 1/3 cup peanut butter
* 1/2 cup milk (or evaporated milk)
* 1/8 teaspoon salt (optional)
* 2 cups sugar
* 2 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened baking chocolate*
* 1/2 cup butter or margarine
* 3 cups quick-cooking oats
1. Have all ingredients measured and ready. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper or foil; set aside.
2. In a large heavy saucepan melt the butter and chocolate over medium heat, stirring constantly. Add the sugar, salt and milk and continue stirring until mixture comes to a full rolling boil. Without stirring, let mixture boil for exactly 3 minutes, no more - no less. Immediately remove from heat.
3. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla, stirring until peanut butter has melted. Quickly stir in the oats, mixing well.
4. Working fast, drop mixture by spoonfuls onto waxed paper or foil. Allow to cool and become firm, about 30 minutes.

Makes about 24 cookies.

2 cups white sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup milk
1 pinch salt
3 cups quick cooking oats
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS
In a saucepan bring sugar, cocoa, margarine, milk, and salt to a rapid boil for 1 minute.
Add quick cooking oats, peanut butter, and vanilla; mix well.
Working quickly, drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper, and let cool.

Those are my moms favorite cookies, she makes them all the time....good luck

You can but I prefer butter. The difference will be with margarine they won't harden as well. It melts faster than butter and stays softer when refrigerated. Just be sure to keep them cold so they don't lose their shape.

i have not tried to substitute margarine yet. i looked www.cooking.lifetips.com and it said that you can substitute margarine. i'm not sure which recipe you are using. this is the one i have

no bake coookies

2 cups sugar
1/4 cup veg. shortening
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups rolled oats

line 2 baking sheets with waxed paper

in a saucepan combine 1st 4 ingredients. bring to simmer over low heat. stir until smooth. simmer for 2 minutes. remove from heat beat in peanut butter and vanilla. gradually blend in oats.

drop by spoonfuls 1 inch apart onto prepared baking sheets
