Which onion would you prefer?!

Question:

Which onion would you prefer?

A red, vidalia, green, yellow, pearl onion or any other type?

My favorite is red onion; it has sweet and mild onion taste!! Whats your favorite?

Answers:
If you want a mild sweet onion, the king of the hill is the Maui Sweet Onion. You can eat them like an apple. You will pay a nice price for them also. Shallots are a type of onion, however very small in nature. They are used in many French dishes and very mild in flavor. They are also use in cooking by most Chef's that cook in a Classic style.

Vidalia are my favorite for all types of cooking and using in salads and on hamburgers, they are so sweet. My second choice would be red onions since they are fairly sweet and add a nice touch of color to foods.

I don't have a favorite, I love them all and eat them all. :)

I really like all onions. Since I live in Georgia, Vidalia onions are popular and are good in salads and stews. I love red onions and use yellow onions for everyday cooking. I love green onions as a garnish or in dishes. I don't use pearl onions that often. If I had to pick my favorite onion it would be red onions.

For eating raw, no contest. Definitely Vidalia. In salads, either Vidalia or red. Otherwise all onions can be cooked with equal success.

Shallots offer a nice sweet change to stir fries.

It depends on the meal that your eating it with.

That would depend on what you are eating/cooking. I only use yellow, vidalia & pearl onions when I'm cooking.Red & green onions are great NOT cooked. They have real good flavor.

I love vidalia onions. They have a great sweet taste. They are even more delicious when grilled.

I love Vidalia onions also Spanish.
For me it's the sweetness and also the size of them.
I never use cooking onions for anything I make.

Maui, Vidalia, and Texas 1015s in that order.

Depends on what I"m making, but overall I like vidalia best. There is nothing better if you are sauteeing them in butter until very tender! For most salads though, I like red onion. For general cooking I usually buy yellow onions for things like meatloaf, hamburgers, etc....

I prefer the red onions, the flavor is great

i love onions! i guess vidalia and pearl are my favorites. use vidalia raw in sandwiches, pearl and vidalia also for sauteed food - nothing adds to the flavor like fresh onion

Wow, that's a loaded question for me anyway. There are three types of onions; spring, storage and pearl.
Spring onions are grown from fall to spring, and have a mild taste. They are shipped immediately after harvest.
Storage onions are firm, dry and possess a pungent taste. After harvest, they are dried and then shipped.
Spanish onions are large and mild, often used sliced in hamburger buns for extra flavour and texture.
Red onions have a similar sweet flavour to that of Spanish onions, and occasionally chefs prepare it marmalade-style to accompany grilled sausages.
Vidalia, in Georgia and Walla Walla, in Washington State are famous for their extra mild onions. Some people slice them and enjoy them on sliced buttered rye bead. They are available in April and May.
Pearl onions are white, small, and mild in taste.
There is no nutritional difference between onions.
Onions come in three colours white 5 % red 7 % and yellow 88 %.
I like red onions in my scalloped potatoes, yellow in hash browns, yellow in home fries, white in spaghetti sauce, red or yellow for sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers. If carmalized, I like yellow. The list goes on but, I guess you could say I love 'em all.

Depends..I use alot of green onions when making Mexican and Chinese food. Otherwise I love vidalia onions for their sweet flavor.

my goodness! i love all of them! they are all so good when you roast them or if they are burnt a little. ~Soo Good~

Red onions- they taste the best raw, but if you slice the onion thin enough, I love them all!

Red on salads and yellow for cooking.

a big vidalia onion. i love to carmelize them for cheeseburgers

I am an onion lover and eat them all. Ever had an onion sandwich?
Maui, Red Bermuda are great. But the best are Scallions.

Nothing tastes like a carmelized Vidalia onion. So darn sweet and goes with anything. They'd be my first choice, wish I could have them all year round. Also like yellow, red and green onions.

It just depends on what I am in the mood for or what I am cooking!
