Decent and affoardable cookware.?!

Question:

Decent and affoardable cookware.?

I want buy new pot and pan set. I got bunch of hand me downs and stuff.

I don't want nothing too high end and pricey being a college student. However, I don't know want something that will flake and warp after a few months to a few years use.

Answers:
The least expensive set I have seen lately that I think is a decent, durable set is Cuisinart Hard Anodized. http://www.amazon.com/cuisinart-nonstick... When shopping around, look for the following things. a) look for a nonstick that is NOT marked Teflon. Teflon is the cheapest, thinnest, easiest flaking form of nonstick. If it doesn't say Teflon, it is likely something better. b) pick up a pan. If it feels lightweight, it will warp easily. Hard Anodized pans are stronger than steel and will warp far less. c) look for metal handles. Plastic handles will fall off or melt off and cannot be put in the oven.

Once purchased, take care of your new pans. Don't spray them with pam(dries the surface and makes them peel) Don't put in dishwasher. Don't use metal utensils. Don't wash pans or place in sink while they are still hot. The extreme temperature change can even warp something as heavy duty as cast iron. Choose decent cookware and treat them right, and you will be cooking up a storm well past graduate school!

Hope that helps!
