Do you think as someone cooks......?!

Question:

Do you think as someone cooks......?

that they should clean as they are cooking? I'm not talkinabout doing dishes as they clean (personally, I do but that's just me), I'm talking if you spill some flour, wipe it up or if you are making something greasy and it spits on the stove to wipe it up. It drives me nuts when people are so sloppy (at least in MY kitchen, I could care less what people do in their homes because that is their perogative).
If you made a mess while cooking, would you clean up after yourself?

Most times I don't want him to, he just takes over and leaves the mess for me. I mean, for pity sake, is it really that hard to wipe up after yourself and soak the dishes? And I am not talking about wiping up the greasy mess while you are still cooking the burgers in the skillet but as soon as you are down and have moved the skillet aside. You are right about the obsessive part because I don't like a nasty kitchen. If you were to find out that the cooks at a restaurant didn't clean up and just cooked in the same old mess of a previous meal, would you eat there? I certainly would not.

Who even said the meals were always prepared for me anyway? Most times he'll come home from work, cook a burger, and leave a disaster in his wake (greasy mess on the stove, condiments everywhere, the deep fryer out with greasy splatters every where and left over fries on the counter and floor...he just doesn't care most times)

I always clean up as I cook.
*except* if I'm making something complicated & need to concentrate - especially if it's something messy. In that case, I just make the mess and clean it all up at once when I finish.
But I agree, it drives me nuts when people leave messes in my kitchen. (or people whos cleaning is not up to my standards... if there's still food on it, that doesn't count as clean!)

I see no point in cleaning the stove *while* you're cooking; you're just going to have to do it again 30 seconds later, AND you run the risk of getting burned.

To be honest, you sound a little bit obsessive about it; but it's your kitchen, not mine. If you want someone to cook for you in your kitchen, then I think you're going to have to bend a little and accept that cleaning up all at once at the end is a lot easier for most folks than trying to keep the kitchen spotless the entire time you're cooking. In short - stay out of the cook's hair.

If you're really hung up about it, then don't let someone else cook in your kitchen, and you won't have anything to worry about.

Yeah i agree its so annoy a stain that could have been cleaned up and gone in a few seconds when wet take ages to scrub off after its dried i live with animals!

Yes, I do because I cant concentrate on cooking while seeing the kitchen looking a mess. It makes me feel good to wipe after myself after making a mess while cooking because I cant stand seeing flour on the floor while cooking something. My mom is the oposite and thats very anoying sometimes. I have to clean up after her especially when she is frying something.

Everyone has their own way of using a kitchen and a lot probably depends on who is cooking and if they are male or female and even their mood and their age and if they have kids and people personal level of hygiene.

The way i cook is thats I clean food scraps as I go but dishes can wait till after dinner. If I use meat I remove the board and knife to the sink, wash my hands and disinfect the surface ie the bench im cutting on to avoid food posioning and cross contaimination. I use different boards for different foods ie meat, vegetable, fruit etc. After the meal all dishes go into the dishwasher. I clean all benches and tables after dinner. I'm kind of lax with the stove top and clean it when it looks bad as its a yukky job and i'm not a clean freak, the same applies to the oven.

I clean as much as I can *while* cooking, but some stuff just has to wait until after dinner. Like if it would be hazardous to the cooking, I don't. If it would be hazardous to walk, then yes. I do dishes the next morning and clean the counters and stove.

Which is TOTALLY opposite of the way it was at my restaurant. The kitchen was always spotless by the time we shut the lights off every single night.

Weird, huh?
