What foods wake you up?!?!

Question:

What foods wake you up?!?

No caffeine or sugar (candy). I have no restrictions but don't want to get fat trying to stay awake.
Today, I treated myself to frozen Boston Market meal (@1pm)and a bought homemade icecream and when it kicked in, I slept for a few hours. I couldn't keep my eyes open. That's why I don't eat during the day!! Food seems to be a sleeping pill!
What are foods (not snacks or treats) that I can eat that will not put me to sleep?

Woman_Tamer said that just about any meat will put you to sleep? Watch out with that because turkey will put you to sleep because it has tryptophan in it. Tryptophan is a natural sedative. I don't know what was in the Boston Market meal-turkey or chicken, but if it was turkey it was the tryptophan that put you to sleep. In the ice cream is seratonin too, that will make you feel good and also could help you nod off.
So, foods that won't put you to sleep are things like yogurt, fruit, vegetables. In order to make a meal, you should add some carbohydrates and some protein-not too much and not too little. You want enough so that your body has the energy it needs but not too much because then your body has to expend too much energy digesting.

Bananas, nuts, apples, grapefruit, oranges...

i dono but some drinks are coffie and energy drinks!

Steak with sauteed mushrooms and onions, broiled fish of any sort, roasted chicken, pork chops, lamb, veal. Just about any meat as long as it is not fried. The carbohydrates are what put you to sleep. You can even have just a salad and you will not get sleepy but you will feel more satisfied with a belly full of meat rather than a belly full of just salad.

You need to eat some really hot and spicy foods!
As hot as you can handle.
You won't fall asleep while your mouth is burning!

oats like oatmeal cheerios
yogurt fat free
granola
nuts

fried foods wake me up.for example i was sleeping and my dad was cooking fried sausages and i could smell them while i was sleeping it was funny lol

strawberries and eggs are brain food so I would assume they would wake you up. Anything low in carbs the carbs are what make you sleepy. Have you had your thyroid checked ? If you have a hard time staying awake then that could be the reason or if you don't eat right you may be slightly anemic that is another thing that can cause you to get sleepy when your not suppose to. Another suggestion is to go for a walk that will wake your body up and make you feel better too. Good luck

granola, larabars, berries, and carrots.

ICECREAM..... and oh wen i go traveling..... i always eat KITKAT with popcorn..I mean I just love it.

For me when I need that slight little bit of an energy pick me up through the day without eating the fattening food that are out there, I found that fresh fruit and some veggies work the best.

I have found that eating a few slices of pomegrantite keep me awake, plus it is very heart healthy. An apple or pear slice will keep me alert. 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with pineapple is also good for staying alert and curbing your hunger, plus the vitamin benefits are an excellent way to help your weight control. Also I have found that a tomato and cucumber salad works too, plus it helps to regulate your system. (just slice a cucumber and tomato, place into a bowl and drizzle a little bit of olive oil on top, if you don't have olive oil, you can use italian dressing).

Hope this helps!

steak wakes me up.

Protein, protein, protein....That's what gives you energy. When you consume carbs (sugar) then it drags you down...peanut butter, eggs, red meat, fish and cheese is good too...peanuts are a good pick me up snack also...anything with sugar will give you a "sugar rush" but then you will spiral down really fast..Protein gives you a more even energy flow.

if you don't wanna to be fat you can just eat little food and not too much
