I'm in your neck of the woods - you may have a hard time finding places around here but you should try this website www.ifanca.org (the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America) because they give information on ordinary products in supermarkets to avoid, and what is acceptable. I think it's great that you are taking an interest and I'm sure your student will appreciate it also. Good luck.
