Can you make pickled onions with the leftover juice in a pickle jar?!

Question:

Can you make pickled onions with the leftover juice in a pickle jar?

I just threw an onion in it...will it work? How long will it have to sit?

Answers:
Slice the onion first, put it in the jar. It should pick up the flavors within a day or two. But use them within a couple of weeks. When the onions are gone, discard brine and jar and get yourself another jar of pickles and start again.

No

you need to bring it to a boil and then let it sit about a week. its going to taste kind of weird because pickles are spiced differently than you would spice onions. if you google "pickled onions" you will get lots of recipes.

when you unsealed the pickled jar bad bacteria got in.. i would start all over.. i dont think they would taste good either...

No

No i dont think it would work that way ,pickling is a whole process in itself. If you want to make use of the juice, try slicing an onion or two, sprinkle with salt, alittle later squeeze out the juice, then pour juice over or put slices into the jar & let stand a few hours or overnight, these can then be added to salads or served with kebabs along with lemon wedges.A slit chillie or two would spice up the onion.,you sjould taste the juice & adjust seasoning before starting.
