If you had to stop drinking, what would you drink?!

Question:

If you had to stop drinking, what would you drink?

I just stopped drinking not to long ago but still enjoy the club/bar scene w/my friends. My self-discipline sucks so I need your help with making some “not-too-fruity” things to drink to keep my mind away from the more enjoyable alcohol beverages. Any good tonic, club soda, or any other good recovering beverage mixture recipes or websites are more than welcome and defiantly appreciated as I have a lot of new mixing to do :)

Thanks!!

Answers:
Mix daquiris or margeritas or something like that with no alcohol in them. Oh but not too fruity, you said. Club soda and lime or lemon. Try tea with lemon too. There are tons of different kinds of teas out there; some will even possibly help with your cravings. Ask at a health food store.

I order a coke, or a club soda with a twist of lime, or orange juice. This way people might think you have alcohol in your drink when you don't.

I don't drink alcohol, but I'll try to answer this question anyway. First of all, there are lots of great alternatives to alcoholic beverages - alternatives that taste great and do not have harmful consequences if taken in moderation. Any beverage taken in excess is harmful - not just alcohol. But as we know, the effects of taking alcohol in excess are worse than that of taking orange juice in excess. Ok, enough of that.

Well, you should try reading up on Japan's beverage market. In Japan, there are hundreds of different beverages out and they always come up with new things, and the ones that don't sell well are quickly taken off the shelves. If it's possible you may be able to sample some of their drinks, which are mostly non-alcoholic.

But that may be impractical. So here's my alternatives - first off, there are lots of great energy drinks out today - see which one you like best. But these are not really good for drinking regularly. But the many varieties of Powerade and Gatorade are worth trying.

There are also a lot of great fruit juices out. Tropicana makes these really great smoothie drinks. You can experiment easily by making fruit smoothies at home. Try making a banana-and-strawberry milkshake. Try that pomegranate drink - it's a bit pricy though.

Of course, there are also lots of sodas around. Coca-Cola came out with Vault, which is pretty good actually. They also came out with Fanta. If you can find it try Fanta Apple - it's one of the best sodas out there. I used to drink it in Egypt, but it's very uncommon here in the states. But I do believe they have it here now.

Also, see if you can find Schwepp's Tangerine soda - that one is pretty cool.

Another big drink category is coffee. Lots of varieties there.

And, the healthiest and most essential drink of all - water.

Good luck in your efforts to stop drinking alcohol. You are setting a great example for others.

A man-ly drink I suppose. Try O.J. and Sprite,gingerale,7-up. A virgin screwdriver. That's what I always drink, when I go bar hopping. Or a splash of cranberry juice and Sprite. Your best bet is look for a book on non-alcohlic drinks. Try
www.allrecipes.com I'm tapped out. You can try your local bookstore tell them your looking for bar drinks without the alcohol. When you go to the clubs? ask the bartender what do you have with out the gin. Ask for a long Island Iced Tea w/ out the liquor.

try making a mango and raspberry drink,or a lil bit or Ginger ale and some grenadine and a cherry and ur good to go.

Ginger Ale is tasty! I also like club soda with lime. Or add a little grenadine to the club soda. I also drink with a little cranberry juice.

Check this website jsylvestre1.qhealthzone.com you will find what you need to push yourself to the limit. And behond!

I drink cranberry juice spritzer, its not too sweet and gives the appearance of a mixed drink.
