A Packet of yeast?!

Question:

A Packet of yeast?

Some recipes I have ask for 1 or 2 packets of yeast. But what I have with me is one whole can. About how many tablespoons of yeast would a packet be?

Answers:
A standard packet is usually 11 grams and so you would have to use 1 tablespoon which contains 12 grams, as a standard. Not heaped or too flat.

Hope this helps.

Hi, on the back of a packet of yeast it usually says that it contains two and a quarter teaspoons of yeast. There are three teaspoons in a tablespoon.

Angelawolfe is correct, it's 2 1/4 tsp. You can even purchase a yeast spoon that measures it out exactly, I bought one from King Arthur Flour catalog.
