yep it explodes for atleast 2 meters up in the air. I wonder what'll happen if I drink diet coke after swallowing mentos. ;)
The flavour of diet coke will turn up into a bad taste medicine if you mix mentos that have an aspartame film coating and the film coating will disintegrate and release the aspartame to the diet coke giving a particular bad taste as rooten medicine!
Is not a good mix at all!

My 17yr old daughter and some of her friends actually did this. They made a foil tube and dropped mentos into Coke, Diet Coke, Cherry Coke, Coke Zero and Vanilla Coke.
And yes the Mentos shot out of the tube like a rocket. The kids found that the Mentos flew farther when they were dropped into the Cherry Coke than the other types of Coke. Coke Zero was the most dissapointing of the experiements.
