Is eating pork a hazard for health?!

Question:

Is eating pork a hazard for health?

Again and again the question pops-up in one context or another. There are several infectious diseases that are said to be caused by pig's meat.

So, can someone tell me with references, if possible, how risky is it to consume pork or pork products, for one's health.

Thanks

I've been eating meat since I know how to eat but I'm still alive and healthy. Just cook it before eating, make sure that it is not infected with any diseases and don' eat too much fat. ?

It's healthy if its properly cooked. When is the last time you read about an epidemic of people dying from eating pig meat? Didn't think so.

Bad if you eat too much of it, make sure you eat in moderation and have it well cooked.

Don't eat it raw....that's trichinosis....bad idea!!!! And don't walk barefooted through their droppings.....that's hook worm....another mildly to majorly bad idea......
If you are determined to eat bacon, ham and pork vittles, enjoy, but cook it well!

Well, the poor pig that died a tortured death just to end up as a corpse on your plate must think it's hazardous to eat pork.

WHO said it was ok to eat a pig and not a cat or dog? What's the difference? Think about it.......Exactly WHAT is the difference between these animals? Just their looks! They both feel pain, their hearts beat, etc., yet we are somehow comfortable putting the rotting flesh of these helpless creatures in our stomach and through a colon that was not made to process meat products.

If you cook pork through properly, it is perfectly fine to eat. Some cultures don't eat meat for religious reasons which I respect, but me, I love my meat (I buy organic meat so I know the animal has not suffered a cruel life or death) and I think that as long as you cook it correctly you will live to tell the tale.

Ihave been eating pork for over 60 yrs and I'm still here.I do but the leaner cuts and make sure it's well cooked. If it's well cooked there no chance of disease,so go ahead and enjoy some ribs for dinner.
