Question:

Does anyone know where you can get marnitaed garilc cloves?

i was in xez szealand and found them but last time i was over there i could not find them

Answers:
They are not hard to make
Pour boiling water over 2 whole heads of garlic and let cool, this makes it easier to peel them, the skin just peels off.
After peeling cover with olive oil, add a twig of thyme, zest of 1/2 lemon, 1 bay leaf and a cut green chilli. put on a low heat for 20 minutes, stirring, let cool, refridgerate in a glass jar.

I've seen them in Tesco in jars on the pickles & sauces section

you should be alble to get them at the store (near the pickled onions, etc.) if your regular store doesn't have them, try a gourmet or specialty market. even an italian or medateranian deli.

this is a great store, i used to go there when i was little. (i grew up just south of gilroy, ca - the garlic capital of the world). there are many different kinds on this page:

Refrigerated Pickled Garlic

2 whole heads garlic, divided into peeled cloves
2/3 cup distilled white vinegar or white wine vinegar
3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon commercial mixed pickling spice
3 sprigs fresh thyme, 3 inches long
one 1/2 pint sterilized jar with lid

Peel garlic, Cut any pieces that are thicker than 3/4 inch in half length-wise. In a small saucepan, boil vinegar, sugar, salt and pickling spice, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Add garlic cloves and return to a boil; cook stirring for 1 minute. Put thyme sprigs in jar then pour in garlic, liquid, and spices, filling to within 1/4 inch of top, making sure garlic is covered. Cover tightly. Let sit at room temperature for 24 hours to blend flavors, then refrigerate for up to 2 months.

Most grocery stores in the US sell them in the same aisle where you'd find Italian seasonings. I know Shaws, Stop and Shop and Whole Foods all have them.
