Diet coke!!?!

Question:

Diet coke!!?

ok so i looked online and on the can and it said that diet coke was ok to drink and that since theres no sugar or calories, you wont gain any weight....but i keephearing things where they say its bad for you...like on supersize me...any explanations??

Answers:
Because the amount of calories is under five, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires that the amount of calories are rounded to zero on the Nutrition Facts panel.

So, diet coke has calories (though very very minimal). Also, diet coke does have sugars...because it has derived from which is derived from the caramel color. It adds up to be 0.1 grams of sugar (carbohydrates).

Hopefully, we all know how sugars from carbs are absorbed in your body. People think that because D.C has aspartame & saccharin (fountain soda's have this additive), it is unhealthy. They are both approved by the FDA, but they are formulated low-calorie sugars. They are not natural form of sugars which would absorb the way natural sugars would in your system.

Some individuals with a rare hereditary disease known as phenylketonuria (PKU) are unable to metabolize phenylalanine adequately and need to control their intake of this amino acid from all food sources. Therefore, by law, products formulated with aspartame carry a statement on the label that phenylalanine is present.

D.C or any sodas for that matter is bad for you, because it will dehydrate you more than hydrate you. It has caffiene present, which also means that once you get the high of drinking a diet soda, you will eventually get to a low that sugars usually do to your body.

Drink water (especially in the summer). If you want to flavor your water, put fresh lemon slices...

Drink water only. Soda isn't good for you.

I don't drink soft drinks period, diet or not. I've heard "diet" drinks make you hungry.

ive heard the same. but when i was on the waight watchers diet you are allowed to drink as much as you want it has no points. its got to be better than normal coke, but theres also coke zero now tastes like normal coke no sugar

Its still sweet isnt it?Therefore they are using artificial sweeteners, and they sure are a no no. They give lots of people headaches .

Diet drinks have artificial sweeteners which have proven health risks . look up each individual ingrediant . Also there is a lot of doubt that they keep weight off . The more popular they get , the more obesity goes up not down . Do you ever see a thin person drinking them ? No it's only the overweight and they stay that way . Thin people drink lots of water .

I've heard that too. When I was on Weight Watchers they said that even though diet soft drinks have no calories, they do have a lot of sodium (which causes you to retain water) and a lot of artificial ingredients (some of which are found in products like formaldehyde).

They recommended that you drink a lot of water and if you had a craving for coke or another soft drink, go ahead and drink a diet. But to try to limit it. Do not drink several cans a day.

Diet soda of any kind most likely isn't good for you.... Drinking in moderation is probably your best bet... One of the reasons, is that diet soda gives you false sense of no/low calorie... ex. in Supersize me.... I'd like a Supersize Double Quarter Pounder w/ cheese supersize fry and a Diet Coke it's absurd... The burger alone is a calorie laden death fest..So, why bother with a Diet Coke. I like diet soda, because regular soda is too sweet for me...
