Americans, what is this ingredient?!

Question:

Americans, what is this ingredient?

What is "cilantro" also in Australia I cant buy Italian dressing pkt mix for KFC chicken, so what could I use instead? I dont think using italian oil dressing gives the same taste as I tried it. Also what is all purpose flour is is the same as Self Raising flour or Plain flour? What is corn starch?

Answers:
Cilantro is coriander, but what Americans would call "coriander" would be the little oblong seeds, and cilantro is the leaves. (And it's delicious, despite what other people may tell you, and a requirement in good salsa.)

All-purpose flour is the same as plain flour. Self-rising flour contains some baking soda (bicarbonate of soda).

Corn starch is... well, it's a powder that kind of squeaks when you rub it between two fingers. I buy it in boxes labeled "corn starch", I don't know what else it could be called!

Cilantro is called Coriander in the UK.

IT is probably the most disgusting food in existence.

You might know cilantro better as "coriander".

All purpose flour is simply that, flour for all purposes. You can make bread, cookies, pizza dough and all sorts of other things with it. Self raising flour already has some baking powder added to it. Cake flour is supposedly pre-sifted and I believe there's some baking powder mixed in there as well.

Corn starch is starch derived from corn. You use it as a thickening agent in foods. Mix it together with some water to form a "slurry" and add it to liquids when they're cooking to thicken them.

cilantro is coriander, and it is not found in the italian seasoning packets, it is an annual herb and can be grown very easliy, and self rising flour is not the same as plain flour, self rising already has the baking soda/powder in it. corn starch is used as a thickening agent for sauces and gravies and comes from corn...

I didnt know cilantro was coriander.
Cilantro is much like italian parsley, its a leafy herb.
Cilantro is used in south american cooking, very strong flavor, i love it, u either love it or hate it...try it a little bit in ure recipes, a little goes a long way.

Cilantro is a leafy herb that has a sharp smell to it. It is used in a lot of Spanish and Mexican cooking.
As for the dressing I am sorry I have no alternative ideas. Maybe have some shipped over from the states. All purpose is the same as plain flour. Self rising has baking powder added to it so it will rise when baked. It is mostly used for breads. And corn starch is a thickening agent used to thicken sauces and gravies. Also fun to use in science experiments.
