Why, in England do we eat curries hotter and spicer than in India????!

Question:

Why, in England do we eat curries hotter and spicer than in India????

Answers:
Its to make up for the lack of originality in british food. After centuries of eating bland food the taste buds of brits have rebelled and demanded hot and spicy food regardless of flavor.

I am joking. I really don't know. I just love to poke fun of our friends across the large pond.

Cheerio!

Curries differ from place to place. Some curry powders are spicier than others. In India, there are dozens of curry powders and their flavors depend on the place of origin.

You are making a big assumption. It is well known that Ethnic restaurants provide food adjusted to what they think the customer wants. The owners of Indian restaurants in Britain do not necessarily eat food cooked the same as on the menu. In India I presume, they provide the food cooked closest to the way it is cooked in Indian homes. I couldn't say whether it is hotter or not. Have you done a comparison. If so, Lucky you!

What? Are you joking? I read in a newspaper that many Brit restaurants dreaded serving Indians from India, cos they invariably protest that the food is bland and not spicy enuf.

An attempt to be more aggressively native

It's a test of manhood lol....the hotter the curry the more manly you are (even the girls)

Well the dishes are totally different o the ones in india.
in india they dont have any weird names for each curry

i think in home country they have it more hotter than in england.

Am not sure where u got your fact from.

The dishes in india are cooked so different and even tastes different

In India, NO ONE uses ready made curry powder. The individual spices are kept inside a masala box, which is always kept ready by the stove, as each dish requires a different mix of spices.
Also, fresh chilis, ginger and often onions and garlic may be added, in combinations or intensity specific to the region and the dish.

I don't think making your curries extra hot and spicy necessarily indicates authenticity.
Indian food is sooooooo much better in India!

Cuz England is a lot colder than India.
