What is chicken oil and where can I get it?!

Question:

What is chicken oil and where can I get it?

Answers:
Most Jewish delis sell chicken oil. Locate the nearest one and order a pastrami and chicken liver sandwich on rye for me. thx tf

It's something you can get out of Popeye's deep fryers.

Mmmmm Chicken oil.

Anywhere that has a good kosher food section or jewish deli. In the store it would probably be stored in the freezer or refrigerated section. Its the consistency of lard or vegetable shortening.

Chicken Oil is basically rendered chicken fat...
If you are in the U.S., Empire (a kosher food line) sells rendered chicken fat:

Although chicken fat, with its high cholesterol count, has fallen out of favor, it does add great flavor to certain dishes. Many butchers sell rendered chicken fat.

To Render Chicken Fat
To render it yourself, remove all large pieces of fat from a chicken and place them in the top of a double boiler over slowly boiling water. Cook until the fat becomes liquid. Remove from the heat and strain. Cool and refrigerate, or freeze, until ready to use.

Good luck, hope I helped!

Schmaltz (chicken fat) can sometimes be found in Kosher delis. However, you may be frustrated trying to find it. You may be better off making your own.
The recipes posted will work fine.
