I'd have to say the King and Queen are Paul and Linda McCartney. Course she died, but I admire all the vegetarians who started back in the 60s and 70s when there weren't exactly soy burgers at every neighborhood grocery store.
Anyone who realizes it's a healthy and humane way of living is king or queen in my book.
If I had to name a fairly modern someone, maybe for now, I'd nominate the founders of The Farm Sanctuary, Gene and Lori B.
Albert Schweitzer and Albert Einstein are among the list of vegetarians. I'd say their pretty smart and so must know something:) Vegetarians existed long before the 60's:)
