Do people give tips to coffee shops (Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts)?!

Question:

Do people give tips to coffee shops (Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts)?

Let say you pay $2.00 for a cup of coffee and you get $.13 or $.16 cents back, what do you do? What is the best way to do in this situation?

Answers:
I always throw my change in the jar....more than change if I'm picking up an big order for work or something. Re: these people are no different then waiters or bartenders. They are taking your order, preparing it, and bringing (giving) it to you. Plus, you never know who you will get on a bad day and a little extra change could completely turn them around...maybe at the end of the days w/ everyones change, they can go get a coffee or a beer or whatever. Generosity goes along way. Trust me.

i usually just throw my change in the tip jar i never even see anyone else tip in dunkin donuts and i've never been in a starbucks

I usually drop it in the tip cup if I have cash, if I pay with my checkcard I dont leave a tip

If the change will only end up down the back of your sofa you should give it as a tip when in the shop.

Generally, it is not necessary to pay a tip to a counter representative. But, if there is a "tip" jar, go ahead and dump your change from the purchase. Usually, it is divided up.

How do I get 13 or 16 cents back if I have to pay 2 Dollars? At Starbucks I don't give tip because it's already expensive enough in my opinion, at least here in Europe. Only as mentioned before little change in the tip jar.

I just take the change [if it's less than a dollar], and I toss it into the tip jar.

Put it in their jar.

I always tip at a coffee shop. If it's a cup of drip coffee, just the change left. If I order something nice, like a latte or mocha I try and put a dollar in...it's just like ordering a drink at the bar...and even though no one will admit it the barista will make a better drink if you tip them.

More commonly than not people throw their change in the jar and some add extra dollars.

leave it the cup for the barrista's
