Are organic food buyers stuck up?
I was dragged to the organic food store last week where I witnessed a lot of hippy, stuck up people. These people walked around as though they were so much better than everyone else because they ate eggs from chickens who were able to romp around the yard instead of sit in a cage.
Anyways, what's up with these people? Are they really stuck up? And if so, why?
Answers:
Not all of them. Some of those that are, are possibly just hopping onto a bandwagon. Others just feel superior full stop. Some people like flaunting the fact they have more cash to spend.
No and how did they act "stuck up" . Did they walk around saying I'm so much better than you. Give me a break .
Well, not all of them are. The problem is that organic food stores attract three types of people
1)People who are showing off their wealth by buying pricer organic foods
2)People who are into taking care of their body, but are not really that intellegent or they would know that organics are really not that much better for you than regular items, and therefore have a high self image. Think Paris Hilton types.
3)Foodies who can not find the ingredients they need at other stores.
Personally I like group three, but could leave groups one and two.
probably not, but I wasn't there....
they are a bit dumb though, paying so much extra money for nothing extra... seriously...
Well, like with most things, you'll find some who are stuck up and some who aren't. But definitely they are not all stuck up. Depending on the store you visit you may find a greater percentage of stuck up people there, but it's not because of the organic food. Other stores will have very few of the stuck up variety.
People who act stuck up do so for a variety of reasons. They may feel that they're better than some other people for some reason or other, they may feel insecure in themselves and so act as if they're better to boost their own egos. There could be many reasons or a combination of reasons for an individual's behavior. My advice is to not worry about them too much. :o)
Well they are being conscientious consumers.
In this capitalistic society absolutely the only way to make a stand is to spend or not spend.
I'm an organic market shopper and i hope i don't come off as stuck up, but I am proud of it.
I'm spending my money with people who actively support better treatment of livestock, better environmental standards, and more healthful foods.
I'm proud to use my consumer on these things and I encourage others to do the same.
