No refill coke bottles?!

Question:

No refill coke bottles?

Why do coke bottles say no refill on the side? Are there a kind that can be refilled?

Babe I don't even think those little glass bottle of Coke can even be refilled anymore. I think that is from just a cost of production issue. Years ago when I was responsible for a government recycling agency there were a lot of laws being passed in various states on the whole recycling area. Bottlers and especially retailers did not want to have to collect, store, clean/reprocess, and then refill glass, plastic, or metal containers. In my state the retailers were the big ones who limited the effort to really put in place a major recycling effort because of their concerns on space, health (keeping the areas free of animals/insects), and being a pass through of the money for the recycled item.
Right now I know of none that are directly refilled, the material has to be reprocessed and then reformed into a new beverage container.

No, but they have to say it for legal purposes. Just like they say "not for individual sale" -- even though people DO sell cans of coke at picnics and such.

25-30 years ago, that was the common practice. Bottles were also glass then.

don't care because i don't have time for this kind of stuff.

Holdover from a bygone era.

just for stupid people who think they can refill them. Also in some countries when you buy a coke you have to take the bottle back so they can give you a coke and they use those bottle to refill, but first the wash and disinfect them, and the plastic ones are just recycled.

its because they have already been recycled, and its possible for the plastic to contaminate other liquids.
thats what i was always told.

it's a CYAstatement.
same as coffee saing contence extreamly hot
Hair drier and states not to be used in the tub
Vacume states not to use on water...

i used to work for coke and they had similar facilities that recycled bottles and refilled them like the old milk man used to. so this way the bottles arent washed out and redistributed.

hope that helps

If I had to guess, I'd say it's because it's generally a bad idea to refill plastic bottles with water or other beverages. Drinking something out of the bottle the first time is fine, but after washing it and refilling it, most plastics start to break down a bit and deposit all kinds of stuff into your beverage. If you are dead-set on refilling bottles with water, use a glass bottle instead.

because one stupid person will go inside a store and try to get a refill on it

Theres always crazy people that sue for the randomest things just to get money. If it dindnt say that you cant refill the bottle, someone would be able to sue them and demand money or something for not clarifying that the bottle cannot be refilled.
