How to keep onions fresh?!

Question:

How to keep onions fresh?

How do you keep a half onion fresh without drying out, when you cut it and only want to use half of it? I've tryed reclosable bowls, alumunim foil and plastic wrap but after a couple days it still drys out.

Answers:
a plastic bag, push ALL the air out, and put it in a nicely cooled frigde. our union halves stay fresh for weeks this way.

eat the onions.

put it in a ziplock and then put that in a brown paper bag.....will keep about 2 weeks like that. make sure you cut it from top to bottom

Put it in a plastic ziplock - in the refrigerator. It'll last a while like that.

When you peel the skin off the onion, don't cut off the bottom part, the part where the roots would have been. Just peel back the skin and cut off what you need. Put the unused portion in a ziplock bag with a tablespoon of water, squeeze out as much air as possible and close. Store in refrigerator. Hope this helps.
