Answers:
there is this recipe that i learned from a friend of mine who is from srilanka. its called curried chicken.
ingredients:
2-3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 lb of chicken parts (with bones)
1-2 medium onions chopped
3-4 cloves of garlic
2 tablespoons of grated fresh ginger (i use ginger powder sometimes ... its works as well)
2-3 medium tomatoes chopped
1-2 tablespoons of tomato paste
1/2 cup of plain yogurt
salt and pepper
1 tsp of cumin
1-2 tsp of coriander
1 tsp of turmeric
and fresh chopped cilantro for garnish
how to cook it:
fry onions and garlic until golden then add ginger and stir for few minutes.
add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft
add tomato paste and stir for few minutes
add spices (mentioned above)
add yogurt
add chicken pieces and make sure that all the chicken piece are coated with sauce.
cover and cook on low for 40 minutes or until thoroughly cooked
you can eat this with bread or with rice
enjoy!
make roti, and its soo easy. just make dough, and roll it out till its a big circle. then bake it on an iron tawa(idk wut that is in english) and wait for brown spots to appear. take it to skool w. lots of butter n it.
I am a former chef and have worked with many Sri Lankan people, there cuisine is similar to Southern India, alot of chicken, lamb and fish, the 2 ethnic groups, the Sinilese and Tamil people do eat some pork, as they were under both the British and Portugese influences over time.
Sri Lanka was once known as Ceylon and still makes the finest teas, the mountain areas are luss and have quite a nice climate. Check out the site I have for you and choose something easy, but exotic.
While I personally have never made Sri Lankan food, there are some great resources out there, such as:
Malini's Kitchen (use the search tool for the word "easy" once there) - http://www.infolanka.com/recipes/...
the recipes of a Sri Lankan cooking instructor by the name of Chandra'ge - http://www.chandrage.com/recipies/recipi...
and a personal page of recipes - http://paradisaya.tripod.com/recipes/...
Between those three sources, you should find something qick and easy in no time. Good luck ;)
