Should I feel guilty?!

Question:

Should I feel guilty?

ok so I've been vegan for about 3 months and vegetarian for 9 years. I've been sick a lot so my parents have me back as just a vegetarian but everytime I have something with milk or egg in it I feel guilty....should I?

Answers:
I don't think you should feel guilty. Since you are sick a lot it's probably a good idea to be just a vegetarian. maybe when your older you can be a vegan again. I could see why you would want to be a vegetarian so maybe just be a vegetarian for now since you have been for 9 years thats not what is making you sick. put your health first see if going back to a vegetarian makes you get sick less often and then decide what you want to do.

no.

Maybe you should talk your parents into buying free range organic or buying milk and eggs from a local small farm.

No, I don't think so. Consider it a temporary experiment, to see whether the lack of dairy was making you more susceptible to getting sick. Consider it as a fine-tuning of your diet to reflect as perfect a blend of your health and your conscience as possible - and good luck!

Don't be aristotle - put your health first, your ideas second. If you've been sick, you probably need more proteins than tofu or almonds could provide. I wouldn't feel guilty about the milk - although I'm leaning vegetarian, I've never understood the milk thing. Eggs, ok (and even then, I grew up on a farm, and not all eggs survive as chicks). But milk? Man, the cows hurt if you don't get it out. So no, don't feel guilty. Feel healthy.

Get over it! Human beings are omnivorous and should eat meat for a healthy balanced diet.

Essentially you shouldn't feel guilty because - hey - it's not your fault. However, you can't be blamed for feeling guilty if you've been a vegan for three months. I think that you should put your health first. may I suggest buying calcium or vitamin replacements? They do a world of good.

Best of Luck!

well, why are you asking us?
I guess it's your choice to chose if you want to be a vegan or not.
it's not like your parents are forcing the non-vegan food down your throat. you have the choice!

Yeah I think that if you truly know the horrors of the dairy industry then you should definately feel guilty by consuming dairy products. However it really is the choice between feeling the guilt and getting along with your parents or not feeling the guilt and having a bad relationship with them. You have to choose what you can deal with best. (I would suggest the vegan way =] )

NO,guilty for what

I think you feel guilty about more than the eggs and the dairy. I think deep down inside, you know you can do more to have respect for your own body, to gain your parents' respect, to respect them, and, even if they don't respect you, to demand that you choose what goes into your body.
