Question:

Is salmon possibly the best and most perfect food on earth?

Nature may have been more brilliant for creating salmon than for creating mankind.

I know, my poor contaminated fish! Even the tuna's full of mercury. Dumb polluters.

But it's better for the environment to buy farmed fish, I believe. I buy a bit of both. I just ate salmon farmed from ... Canada OR Chile! Wonder which.

Fish-oil supplements are great for the skin. I'm probably going to start taking them for my psoriasis.

Omigod next to tuna, salmon is an all time fave.
We had salmon for dinner tonight (wild) I made a big salad nicoise (spelling) with salmon instead of tuna and for the kids they had speghetti with salmon and peas in a cream sauce...we were quite happy.
In the winter I make salmon pie; it is a family favorite in our house.
Here is the recipe save it for fall/winter tho and its really easy to make.
Fill a pie crust with either canned salmon or cook 12 ounces of salmon half way, whip creamer potatoes with dill, butter, and garlic, then add salmon to the potato mix. If you use canned salmon poor some of the juice if fresh and you have juice from whatever cooking method you use do the same. Put mixture in pie crust and have an extra pie crust for the top and put into the oven for specified cooking time of crust...yumm.

I just love salmon and have it as often as possible. So delicious and nutritious.

Sorry to burst your bubble: it's contaminated. The farmed salmon I never buy: did you know that it's actually dyed pink? Yep - it's actually grey. There are all kinds of parasites found in the waters where these fish are raised (aquaculture). Sometimes (as in the case of coastal British Columbia, Canada) problems arise where the waters surrounding the fish farms become contaminated too.

Wild salmon is safer - but there is no where on earth that contaminants (the result of pollution) - haven't been found in these fish.

I take extra-high potency salmon-oil supplements daily. I always take a vitamin e supplement at the same time. Vitamin e is an anti-oxidant. I can't remember where I read this (ages ago) but the vitamin e is supposed to go some distance in negating the effects of the toxins found in the fish oil. It is possible to find fish-oil supplements at health food stores where the amount of pollutants is monitored and (supposedly) controlled for. As I mentioned, I just take the vitamin e.

Welcome to the 21st century, eh?

It is definitely my favorite food on earth!
i just bought some today and plan to savor every bite for lunch tomorrow.
I know it's contaminated, but I don't eat pork, processed meats or junk food, so I am willing to take the risk.
Salmon Pie?
Sounds delish!
Good luck

oh you are so right! I was talking about this very same thing last night! The texture, the flavor, you can cook it any way and serve it with anything and it's delicious and elegant and easy and nutritious and pretty, it's good hot or cold, it's good in sushi or salad or pasta, it brings out the flavor of the spices you use, I agree 100%. You are right on sister! Mankind is flawed, salmon is not =)
