Question:

Can you freeze plastic water bottles in the freezer ?

or any other kind of liquid..
some people say its unhealthy bcuz chemicles come out of the plastic....what do u think? is it true?

Answers:
I Think you get more plastic in your system using plastic cutting boards and microwaving food on plastic and foam plates you can freeze stuff in bottles as long as you leave room for expansion.

I looked the information up on Snopes, and it said you can.

I reuse water bottles all the time...usually 2 or 3 days in a row.

I'm still alive and healthy. and I have a plastic water bottle in the freezer right now.

you can but it will Herta when it hits you

I do it all the time

no it is safe to freeze the water bottles, I have been doing it for years and nothing bad has come from it

It's safe. When you do it, leave a little airspace in the bottle; the water expands when it freezes and if you don't leave some space, it might burst the bottle.

remember the old ice cube trays?
the ones made from plastic?

u can i do all the time so ya

i freeze em all the time and im fine...keep freezin.

Unless you live in the low desert, fill a water bottle about 1/3 to 1/2 full, and lay it on its side in the freezer. When it's solidly frozen, take it out and fill it up with water. That way, you'll have ice water to drink as the ice slowly melts. If you freeze the whole thing solid, you may be waiting a long time for your water. In the low desert, however, where it can be over 100 degrees Fahrenheit (40 Celsius) and people still go out and carry on normal lives in it, sure, freeze the whole thing. You'll need to. Otherwise, only freeze part of it. If you find the ice core melts too quickly, freeze 1/3 to 1/2 a bottle of water upright to make a solid chunk of ice at the bottom.

Absolutely! The story about chemicals being released from the plastic are all bogus. For an article about this, written by a plastics expert, use the URL link that follows.

freezing water bottles is fine, it's the washing part that is supposedly bad. Plastic Water bottles aren't supposed to be put in the dishwasher because of the high temperature brings out the chemicals in the plastic. Personally, I dont' see how this is different from microwaving plastic plates, but I guess that's why i'm not the one developing plastic.

Yes, but make sure they're not too full or they will break.
