Crock pot cooking time for rump roast?!

Question:

Crock pot cooking time for rump roast?

I have 3.15 lb rump roast that I'm planning to cook in the crock pot. I leave for work early, so I won't be able to adjust the temperature during the day. If I cook it on low, how many hours will it take?

Answers:
Depends on if it starts out frozen and also how thick it is. I pretty much agree with the first answer, though. 10 hours on low won't hurt it. If it is frozen it still should be nearly as tender by the end of 10 hours. You could also try putting it on when you go to sleep at night and have it done by morning and put it in the fridge before you leave to work. Just reheat it when you are ready to serve it.

It won't hurt for it to cook all day on low. If it cooks for 10 hours it still won't hurt a thing as it will just be very tender and very good.

Most roast in the chuck and rump stage, require long slow heat process,, Place the roast in your crock pot, add your seasoning and bullion, fill the container with Bottled water.

If your adding vegtables do it at this time, let this roast go for a minimum of 7 hours, on low., enjoy

If you really want to make it special do the following. Take a steak knife and stab little 3/4 to 1 inch deep stabs in it spaced about 1 inch apart. Take garlic cloves, peel and slice lengthwise. Put one piece of garlic in each stab, pushing down to bottom of stab. Take one large onion and half and slice it. Makeup one or two cups of beef boullion, pour in the crockpot. Salt and pepper your roast, place in crockpot. Take sliced onion and distribute in the boullion. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Make sure you thicken the liquid for gravy with four or arrowroot, not corn starch. You definately want to reuse the gravy. This is a great recipe. I made it up myself and I have never found a better one.

I always do the same thing. I brown my roast first. Then put in crock pot - add all the veggies- add enough water to cover roast. Put the lid on. And off I go. Leave it on low all day. When you get home it should be fork tender. Good Luck and God Bless.
