Why do chefs use towels instead of pot holders/mittens?!

Question:

Why do chefs use towels instead of pot holders/mittens?

On tv, I always see chefs using towels to pick up hot pots and pans. Why don't they use potholders instead?

Answers:
putting a mitten on and taking it off is a real hassle and wastes time. Potholders are sometimes used, but sometimes tend to wander off. A chef has a towel usually over his shoulder so he can immediately grab it and use it. Plus, towels canbe used to wipe up spills, are cheap, and they are easily washed,

probably because if they spill they can just use that

Two reasons-

Chefs are men! (Even the women are "men"!)

You can't wash a potholder!

Its easier to change to cutting or some other job, time is money!

Towels have a great tendency to get thrown over your shoulder when cooking therefore easier access, - for holding pots and wiping the bench, edges of plates after food has been served up etc...
Potholders are that small they'll end up on the floor and no where to 'put' them, unless you got a really big apron.

Towels are just most versatile than potholders or mittens..

towels are so easy to use. trying to deal with pot holders can be a pain. they are often smaller and harder to grab onto.

Towels being large & handly , thrown over the shoulder are the perfect thing to use around the kitchen, more so when you are dealing with huge pots & pans as a chef would naturally be doing all the time.,as he /she bustles around a kitchen that is buzzing with activity.
