What are the advantage of having a Raw food diet's?
I have been vegetarian for the past 15 years and I am inclined now to go Raw, please, give me a good site for recepies.
Answers:
I eat about 75% raw or living foods. Advantages are - clearer skin, brighter eyes, increased energy levels, improved muscle tone, balanced weight, better concentration. If you carry excess weight you will lose it and look and feel much younger. Top tips - buy a decent blender, you will find you will use it daily - and a masticating juicer. this guy also has put out a great recipe book called rawvolution! check it out.
while it is a VERY good idea to eat more raw foods than most people curently do,(meaning the % of our diet that is raw should be much higher) it is extreme and potentially harmful to go COMPLETELY raw. Our digestive system needs the "rest" of processing cooked foods on occasion. I'd say eat one or two cooked dishes a day,(healthful, whole grains, breads, nutritious soups, etc..) and greatly INCREASE your intake of raw fruits and veggies, as opposed to making them your ENTIRE diet.
Good luck on your quest to a healthier you!!
I love Sushi does that count?
It must make a big difference to your electric/gas bills, and you could always sell your cooker on E-Bay. I'm trying to think up what raw trotters taste like?
There are any advantages.

Although increasing your raw food intake is generally a good idea, I would be careful before going completely raw.
If you are interested in the ayurvedic aspect of raw food eating, I can shed some light on that for you.
I would check your dosha type first - you can go to banyanbotanicals.com. They have a free online dosha test. Take the test and then read about your body type and what diet suits your body type best and why.
Every body is different, and in my opinion, its in your best interest to fully examine this issue before making a drastic change that may throw your body out of balance in the long term. The body also enjoys and needs cooked vegetables and grains!
Good health to you whatever you choose!
Have a look as this, Shazzie is the queen of Raw Food. Good luck.
Although a lot of the advantages of a raw food diet are well documented by the likes of Robert Young and Gabriel Cousens. The disadvantages are often ignored or brushed under the carpet.
Raw food unless washed/soaked in a solution of acid will contain parasites, raw food people suffer from parasites far more than people eating any other sort of diet. Which is one of the reasons they reccomend regular fasting!!
Also, raw food is not suitable for everyone, despite what Cousens & Young state in their books. Both take the work of the leader/developer of metabolic typing, but do not fully apply it and ignore the fact that certain Protien types can not follow a raw food diet without becoming il as a result. Although both offer expensive protien products in an attempt to overcome this they are hiding the fact that some types must have a high protien diet to remain healthy.
My partner was vegan for 12years and was raw on and off for the last few in an attempt to overcome health dificulties. Luckily she discovered metabolic typing and after being typed and realising she was a definite protien type is now eating meat 3 times a day and her health is recovering steadily as a result.
Check out the metabolic type you have before committing to Raw Food, as it's an expensive decision in terms of buying food, equipment to prepare food, time & money preparing it(dehydrators cost a fair bit to run!) and can have a negative impact on health.
The best way of getting a metabolic typing test done is from the following book-

or you can do similair online tests.
If you do go ahead, the bible of raw foods is the "rainbow green diet" by Gabriel Cousens -

the reason why "raw " is good for you is that it retains the vitimins that might otherwise be lost through "boiling".Steaming is often good too.
