Until it grows mold which will be a very long time if you keep it refrigerated.
I would not keep it more than 2 weeks after opening it and left in the open.
A few weeks but you have to keep it in the fridge otherwise it'll go off fairly quickly. Nicer when it's out of the fridge as well!
(Jam doesn't get too stiff to spread when it's kept in the fridge).
Because of the high sugar content in jam, it actually keeps indefinitely (contrary to what some people answered to this question). It is rather like asking how long jelly beans will keep, if you see what I mean. No need to keep it in the refrigerator, where it will get too stiff to spread. I have had mold develop on top surface of jam after, say, 8 months, but you can scrape it off and the rest is still just fine.
i would say a couple of weeks
It seems to last forever in the frig but I would never just scrap off the mold and keep eating. I know you probably can just like cuting the mold off of cheese but no thanks time to toss it at that point. Think about this though they have been making jam for hundreds of years at least somthing like jam and they never died from eating old jam
Months and months. We have home made jam with a greaseproof paper circle directly on to the surface and the the lid on top, so it's protected each time you use some.
Once you've tried a good home-made one you'll look at supermarket stuff in a very different light.
Never kept it in the fridge, just the store cupboard.
It depends upon the quality of the jam and how it is kept.
Top quality jam, kept in a fridge after opening, will probably be okay for several months. At room temperature, it won't last as long.
Lower quality jam will start to separate after it has been opened for a couple of weeks, even when refrigerated.
If it gets mouldy, throw it out. If it isn't mouldy, it is usually safe to eat but may have less flavour than when it was fresh.
