Whats the purpose baking soda in the cake?!

Question:

Whats the purpose baking soda in the cake?

Answers:
It's a leavening agent, meaning it helps the cake to rise.

if you don't put it in, it becomes like a rock, so I guess to make it moist

baking soda is used to bulge the cake.yeast is also used for that purpose.

without it your cake will not rise and you will have a very dense, very heavy, very compact rock......

it makes the cake fluffy.

softens the cake and makes it more spongy....

baking soda helps the cake to become fluffy and soft to eat.
