Is it illegal to sell Red Bull to under 16's?!

Question:

Is it illegal to sell Red Bull to under 16's?

My sister works in a shop (small village shop) and has been told that she can sell it to anyone of any age who wants to buy it but she (and I) thought this was against the law

Does anyone know what the legal situation is?

Answers:
Sure, it's not alcoholic. It only has caffeine in it but then so does coffee, coke, tea etc etc

its legal its not alcoholic and you can sell caffine to anyone otherwise under 16s would not be able to but chocolate tea or coffee

only it its served with Jagger.!

Why would it be illegal? Are you so used to seeing it mixed with alcohol at bars ie; vodka that you don't realise that IT isn't alcoholic?

It does have Taurine in it which is a stimulant and therefore banned from a lot of sports but it is not illegal to sell to u-16's

Its not illegal as there is no age limit on it, but I won't let my staff sell it to under 16's

Why not? Its a Sport Drink ( it doesn't have any alcohol).

it is not alcohol, so is legal, it is a energy drink no worse than lucazade, and you wouldnt think twice about selling that to a child

It is not illegal as there is no alchohol content in Red Bull. It is not recommended for the use of children because of the stimulation effect on them but not illegal

theres nothing in it to make it illegal all reall caffene but thats legal for everyone theres no such form of alchol or anything 'bad' for childeren in it. My little brother drinks it quite often and hes 5 lol.

What sort of law would prohibit this? It's just a caffeine drink. Anyone can buy chocolate, or soda, or tea, etc.. . . It's not alcohol, generally 16 is not the cut off age for anything. . . I'm wondering where you live that may even have this obscure law?

no im 14 and i walk into walmart and buy redbull any time i want
and my friends buy all sorts of other energy drinks w/ no legal situation

Well....not that I know of. I was having friends over and a friend brought a friend and was 16. My friend was buying alcohol at the time so she was carded and nothing was done. But later that night the 16 yr old was feeling dizzy and fainted. We later found out that the 16 yr old had a heart problem.....so it's ok as long as they dont have any health issues.

hi there i was informed it is illegal in scotland ... having worked in retail we were told to use our discretion re selling red bull ..

its nonalchoholic so they are able to sell it to anyone who wnats one.
even if they are only 1 yr old and want it Lol

Don`t recommend it though, my nephew was hyper for hours,
he`s 8.
