Why is there a "use by" date on bottles of Water?!

Question:

Why is there a "use by" date on bottles of Water?

It seems a little silly. Is there a logical explanation?

Answers:
There are several reasons. The most important is that the code date is used by the bottler to trace all of the water from a single plant/shift in case there should be a health problem or consumer or customer complaints.

Second, is that, over time, the water loses oxygen through the plastic and doesn't taste as good as the bottler intends. While you can fix this by dumping back and forth between glasses to aerate, it isn't how the company would like you to see their product.

Lastly, with time and heat, sometimes with light, the water can pick up some plastic taste. Not harmful, but again, not as good tasting as the company would like.

Bottled water doesn't "spoil" or grow bacteria. There is so little bacteria and virtually nothing nutrative for the bacteria to grow on, so that isn't a concern.

cause water can go stale just like everything else.

Mostly to cover their backsides and everything has a date on it, even stuff that never did before. Makes you wonder how our ancestors managed to live to an old age huh?

it gets stagnet after a while

ok this may sound weird, but i heard it from a few doctors...after the use date, or leaving it in a hot car for a while, the plastic bottle starts to decompose and put chemicals into the water..

Bottel water does not get stale or stagnet if left un-opened and kept out of UV light. There are wells where water is 100 of years old and even 1000 of years old. I have bottle water in my 2nd refer thats over 5 years old and it tastes as good as the day I put it there. Water is already old when you buy it. As far as the sell by date I would think it would have to due with UV light.

bacteria can develop from exposure to light and the plastic bottle contains chemicals that are not good for the bodys system. I had to ask my chem teacher the same question cuz i was confused

the FDA requires water to have a use by date. Eventually micro organism can build up and possibly make the water contaminated. Sounds odd I know. It does eventually happen. Just be on the safe side. drink it!
