Minced garlic/clove conversion?!

Question:

Minced garlic/clove conversion?

I have a recipe that calls for 4 cloves of garlic, minced but I only have jarred minced garlic. How many teaspoons/tablespoons do I use for the recipe?

Answers:
I stopped using the minced garlic from the jars, and only use fresh now, because when I'd saute the jar type, it would always splatter and sputter and burn fast.

BUT, I think you could safely use 2-3 scant teaspoons of the jar type to equal 4 cloves.

1/2 tsp per clove

About 2-3 teaspoons.

I'd use between 4 and 5 teaspoons. Can't ever have too much garlic!!

Clove size can vary, but I would suggest using at least 3 heaping teaspoons of the minced garlic. If you really like the garlic flavor, then feel free to add another.

Good luck!

I think its about 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic to one clove of garlic.

PrincessJesci is correct. If you want really fresh garlic and don't want to do all that dicing, purchase a "micro plane" grater and grate your fresh garlic. It works very well and the freshness can't be beat.

I just checked my minced garlic jar, it says 1 tsp for one clove of garlic.

Substitutions: 1 clove = 1 teaspoon chopped garlic = 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic = 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder = 1/2 teaspoon garlic flakes = 1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic = 1/2 teaspoon garlic juice
