Good indian non curry dish?!

Question:

Good indian non curry dish?

Im going to an indian restaurant with a group of friends. I love curries but unfortunatelly they dont agree with me. Is there anything non curry i can order? please give me the names and a bit of info on whats in it. Thanks a lot

Answers: Be sure to order naan. It is fabulous Indian style bread that is making my mouth water thinking about it.
I'll second anything cooked tandoori style, it's grilling Indian style. Chicken, fish and lamb is great that way.
There is also an Indian spinach dish called palak paneer that is good.
Samosas are a wonderful appetizer. It's bread with peas and potatoes on the inside.
Chicken tikka masala (marinated chicken with cream sauce), malai kofta (vegetarian meatballs in cream sauce) and butter chicken (self-explanatory) is curry free.
For dessert be sure to order kheer (rice puding) or any of the tasty mango treats they have available. You can usually get an omelet te from an indian restaurant, maybe have that, or maybe something very mild like a korma or dansak tandoori chicken with rice Indian food isnt all curries: ask for alu gobi (potatoes & cauliflower), bhindi (okra)... but I think it's not the curries, it's the spices....

so order anything, but ask for MILD or NOT spicy at all. they can do it, just ask.

naan (bread), tandoori chicken ,saffron rice & raita (yogurt & cucumber salad)

ask the waiter for his recs

Enjoy! Hi, her are a few dishes that you may like to try.

Chicken or lamb Pasanda : marinated diced lamb or chicken cooked with fresh mild spices and red wine.

Chicken, lamb or prawn Korma: very mild, sweet, creamy dish cooked with coconut & almonds.

Chicken, lamb or prawn kashmiri: fairly mild cooked with lychee, banana, cream & almonds.

Chicken, lamb or prawn Malaya: cooked with pineapple and spices.

To name just a few of what is on offer in almost all Indian restaurants.
I hope this helps and that you enjoy your meal.

Kindest Regards.

Peaches There was a young lady called kinga
Who the Indians thought was a minga
Her husband thought not
He put one in the in the pot
And now she's decided to linger.

No offense I read you earlier question. "Curry" is not an Indian dish, it is an English invention. "Curry" is just some ignorant Raj-era Englishman's mispronounciation of "kari", a kind of leaf used in the preparation of many Southern Indian dishes...

Tell the waiter/waitress the sort of spices you like, and they will recommend a dish... I would suggest Indian parantha and yogurt raita.

You will love it.

Raita info may be found here

Enjoy! Here are my suggestions. Eat a lot of Raita (the yogurt dip) with your dinner. Yogurt helps to ease the spices when they hit your stomach.

Also, take some gas-x before and after the meal.

As for non-curry items, tell the waiter that you would like food with less masala. Masala is the blend of spices in most curries. If you say you want non-curry items, the waiter may not understand.

Anything Tandoori should be ok because there aren't too many spices in it. Tandoori is basically just grilled meats.

Also, dhal/dal (lentil soup basically) is usually pretty mild. The naan bread and rice should both be pretty easy on your tummy.

Hope that helps.

Regards,
mari Onion bhaji's with salad & raita , popadoms with chutneys Chicken Tikka Masala- Delicious. It's chicken in a tomato cream sauce. You can order it mild.

Chicken Korma is chicken in a coconut cream sauce. Very tasty too.

Chicken Biryani is chicken simmered with herbs and nuts and served over fragrant yellowish rice.

Chicken Makhani is chicken in a buttery-like sauce.

Chicken tandoori is chicken on the bone. It is bright red and very juicy.

I love all Indian food so I could go on, but that should give you a good idea! Hi I have the same problem so this is what I opt for when eating at our local Indian Restaurant
