Is Sushi Chinese or Japanese food?!

Question:

Is Sushi Chinese or Japanese food?

Me and my friend got in 2 a quarrel and she thinks Japanese but i think Chinese.

Answers: sushi is japanese food, when you think about it the japanese lived on an island so they would have to make use of everything they had mainly fish and rice. at first sushi was raw fish with a little something all tied together with seaweed. but then the sushi roll was developed which used raw fish, seaweed, rice, and anything else that they wished to add. Sushi is a 100% Japanese food. I believe it is Japanese for, "fresh," which would make sense, because what could be fresher than raw fish wrapped in fresh-cooked rice with raw seaweed and vegetables? I could see why you might think Chinese though, because a lot of Chinese restaurants (especially buffets) now have sushi bars as well. Hope this helped! Japanese.
