We call them grinders. It's another name for a sub, or as they call 'em by you grinders. So a sandwich like they serve at Subway. A nasty hot sandwich thing. (uck) hoagie or submarine is the same thing... a sandwich it's a grinder....or a sub......but really, why couldn't you just google it or wikipedia it? A sub sandwich. Itls kind of like a toasted sub, only pretty much everything is cooked ginger We call them "subs." A hoagie is a sandwich, hot or cold, involving various meats, vegetables, and/or condiments on a long bread roll. It's a regional term, usually around the north, for what other parts of the country call: grinders, subs, submarines, po'boys, etc. All names for the same sandwich style. If you've ever been to a Subway sandwich shop, those are hoagies. They also sell them in the deli section of most large grocery stores. hoagies = grinders = subs= po' boys A sub sandwich. Some people also call them a grinder. Same as a poor boy down here.
