Hot Dogs
Pizza
Potato Chips
Apple Pie

These are some of the foods I found on this website~ http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8392312/... I think it's probably fried chicken or fish. Also, plants, like black eyed peas, corn or collard greens - and of course chitlins! Apple pie is the symbol of America!
Brownie... the best chocolate cake ever done in all history.. The tomato, corn, potato chips (American Indian chef), fortune cookies, chop suey, chili, a number of berries, Twinkies, and Coca-Cola, to name a few. -Chicken ala king maybe..some nasty concoction my mom made with leftover chicken, rice and cream of chicken soup
-Pasta salad (maybe?)
-Cheese fries
-Potato skins
-Cheese dogs
-Pretty much anything that has random amounts of fatty stuff thrown on it. Like bacon, sour cream and cheese. Indigenous foods are American foods. Mexican food can be included in that,as much of it is indigenous(Native) in origin. I consider grits, fish soup, barbecue (yes, this is Native,) tamales, bean bread, etc. American foods. Greens (like collards, wild greens, etc.) are as well, as we're the ones who taught the settlers to make them.

There's a particular soup we Cherokee make, ganvtsi (spelled kanuche sometimes) that uses pounded and formed hickory nuts as a base. Add hominy and either sugar or salt (sweet vs. salty is a competition still) and voila! Burgers, fries, hot dogs, tuna casserole :) fired chicken
meat loaf

mashed potatoes Burgers aren't American there German.
They were invented in Hamburg, Germany.

French Fries aren't American either.
There most likely of Belgian origin.

Most American food has some ties to Europe in one way or another.

Mashed Potatoes are also most likely of European origin.
They were eating them in England for sure before they came here to the states. Burgers and fries. corn on the cob, peanuts, fried chicken ....and grilled cheese on wonder bread. When we go on cruises and they have American food night, they always serve turkey and dressing. I guess the pilgrims ate it at the first Thanksgiving, and no other countries have Thanksgiving-- so I'm thinking that turkey and dressing should be "the" American food. MacDonald's hum burger and french fries
Kentucky's fried chicken
Lay's chips
coca-cola or Pepsi cola
