Why does Chinese food make you feel hungry shortly after eating it?!

Question:

Why does Chinese food make you feel hungry shortly after eating it?

I ate a big bowl of General Tso's a couple hours ago, and I swear I'm hungry!

But it doesn't seem right, logically, to eat again.

Answers:

It might be because of the MSG. Monosodium Glutamate is a flavor enhancer that is added to Chinese food. Some people believe that eating food with MSG makes you hungry. Personally I think it is because of the refined rice and very few vegetables. Unlike brown rice, which takes a long time to digest, and thus stays with you, white rice is digested quickly, turning, like all things that you eat, into sugar for your body to burn as fuel. Unless a meal consists of a good amount of veggies and complex carbs you will feel hungry more quickly.

Try this experiment: Day one eat a bowl of sugary cereal. Note the time. Then note what time you start feeling hungry again. Day two: Eat a bowl of oatmeal made with milk and topped with real maple syrup or honey and see how long it takes you to get hungry that day. I'm betting that the day you eat the oatmeal your hunger for lunch is delayed.
