How can I improve my gulab jamun recipe?
I made homemade gulab jamun yesterday, and although it came out very tasty its not as good as the kind i get at the local Indian restaurant. I know one of the major problems is that I couldn't find saffron or cardamom at the grocery store so couldn't add it to the syrup. Also, the syrup is a little too thin and the gulab jamun is a little too mushy. How can I improve it for my next batch? Please, no recipes unless you have used them yourself and have made perfect gulab jamun.

add a little rose water to your gulab jamun which will give it a great smell your syrup is to thin thats why it is making the gulab jamun mushy the dried and ground saffron and cardamon would have made it thicker
