Question:

Do you know the indian veg, "arbi"? it kinda looks like gnarled potato and is sticky inside?

What else is it called? is it the same as taro? whats the best way to cook it?

Answers:

i love arbi !
though we call it arvi. some people also call it alcunda. but i think there is a difference between these, as arvi is a separate underground root, and alcunde is the root of alu, a leafy vegetable, used to make aluwadi, or even a gravy.
select arvi when buying, which is firm, not with too many threds outside, and wet.
yellowish-brown, or literally some what muddy in color, you should first boil it, peel, cut cubes.
cut onions, green chillies, tomatoes, garlic, and ginger.
fry the masala in oil, add arvi, stir, and sprinkle turmeric, red chilli powder, do not add any water.
in order to lessen the stickiness, add 1 or 2 amsul, which are available in indian store, they are the presrved skins of a fruit called ratambi, which are sour in taste,.
what is taro ?
do you mean taco, which is grown in Kerala, of india ?
taco is used to make chips. do be fried before eating.
