Garlic-green chili paste- where can I order this from the US?!

Question:

Garlic-green chili paste- where can I order this from the US?

It is used in Indian cooking; apparently a common ingredient, but I can't find it. I've been substituting a 50-50 mix of ground garlic and serrano chilis. Am I close?

Answers:

It is really hard to find ready made garlic/green chili paste because the shelf life is short. Garlic paste is easily available but once green chilies are added, it will not last long even in the refrigerator. For a short cut, use ready made garlic paste and add fresh green chilies to that if you wish.

Indian green chili pickles last longer because they contain alot of oil, fenugreek (methi), salt.... all products you dont want in your paste.

If you can find Thai bird peppers, use the small green ones. The 50/50 mix is accurate unless you want to make the dish spicier --- add more chilies. If you cant find the little Thai/Indian chilies, serranos are the best substitute.
