YUM! Thai is my all time favorite cuisine, just make sure you go to a place that cooks authentic, fresh thai (not imitation!). Great starter thai dishes are:

Pad Thai (rice noodles in a lightly spiced peanut sauce with either chicken, shrimp or beef, tofu, bean sprouts, lime wedges, crushed peanuts and other delicious flavors). I haven't met anyone who dislikes this dish yet.

My personal favorites are Tom Ka Guy (a spicy, sour coconut soup with chicken, mushrooms and lemon grass, among other roots and spices)

Som Tum, a spicy and crunchy papaya salad usually served with steamed sticky rice.

Chicken Panaeng curry, ( chicken simmered in a spicy peanut curry sauce)

and Three Buddy (chicken, shrimp and scallops in a sweet and spicy garlic ginger sauce with vegetables.

Think of Thai as a healthier, spicier and fresher version of Chinese food. (If you like Chinese).

Good luck!
