Question:

When I was in the Navy, we were served Indian curry with the following toppings ( as best I can remember):?

Diced tomatoes, chopped bacon, chopped celery, browned coconut, chopped eggs, chopped chutney, chopped nuts, and a few others. You simply pile all these on top of the curry (shrimp, chicken or lamb). Is this authentic Indian curry or an Americanized one.

Answers:

Right you are on your toppings...made at home, I also include chopped green onions, raisins or dried currants...and [here's my favourite] a fried banana under each rice serving before you pile on the curried whatsit and add toppings. Great taste surprise at the bottom of the pile. Further: I always separate yolks from whites in the chopped egg dishes--served side by side in their own bowl they look v. attractive. Yummmm.
