Can you share some recipes for food from El Salvador?!

Question:

Can you share some recipes for food from El Salvador?

I have a friend who has been here from El Salvador for only about 1 1/2 years and want to surprise him with some food from his country. Any recipes wether desserts or main dishes will help. Also websites or links to websites will be appreciated. Thanks!

There's a common dish called, Sopa de Res. It;s beef soup.

At the supermarket, you get a 'beef stew' cut of meat, yuca, corn, kirby (the small cucumbers) and carrots.

Add salt to the meat and water then boil - Keep the heat to medium. This is going to take about 1 and 1/2 hours just to boil it to make sure that the meat is very soft. When it first boils, make sure you take out the brown stuff that accumulates on top of the pot so that the soup will look clear and edible. To check if the meat is soft enough, take a fork and when it doesn't take much force to cut through the meat, it's perfect.

After that, add the peeled, and cut yuca. (10 mins)
Followed with the corn. (15 mins)
Carrots and Kirby go in last. Let everything sit and boil for another 20 minutes. In between, taste see if it needs salt. Add a little pepper.

Hope this works.
